Volvo Trucks will be bringing two high-specification FMs - an 8x4 tipper grab and a 6x2 tractor unit - to Tip-ex in Harrogate next month.
The FM 8x4 tipper grab has a D13K500 engine and air suspension on all four axles. It also has Volvo’s Tandem Axle Lift, which enables the double-drive to be temporarily disengaged for off-road and unladen movements, saving tyre wear and fuel.
The chassis can be specified with either an 11-litre or 13-litre engine, and a lower passenger door window can be fitted for urban work.
The tractor unit has a Lite pusher axle, D11K450 engine, and a Globetrotter cab.
Volvo said the 11-litre engine gives the unit a substantial reduction in unladen weight compared to its 13-litre counterpart (around 120kg weight saving), without compromising torque or fuel efficiency.
