Slicker Recycling, based in Stourport-on-Severn, has taken delivery of two new Volvo FM 8x4 Tridem rigids for collecting waste from oil and water separators.
The FM rigids, supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, feature Volvo’s Globetrotter LXL cab, D11K engines producing 410hp and 12 speed I-Shift automated transmission systems.
There is also a nine-tonne front axle up front of a 27-tonne rear bogie design, unique to the Tridem layout.
They are fitted with Rolba Super Combi vacuum tanker bodies, which include high pressure jetting pumps, vacuum pumps and suction hose reels, connected to stainless steel, 4,000 gallon tank cylinders.
The trucks join the firm’s fleet of 130 vehicles specialising in the collection and recycling of hazardous workshop waste, as well as the provision of drainage and interceptor maintenance services, from nine depots and transfer stations across the UK.
Slicker Recycling’s customers include Asda, Motor Fuel Group, and Euro Garages.
Mark Olpin, MD at Slicker Recycling said: “We will use the new FM Tridems for collecting waste sludges and sediment from oil and water separators.“The capacity and weight capability of Volvo’s chassis makes it ideal for interceptor cleaning.”
