West Lothian-based Dechmont Forklift Trucks has put its first Volvo commercial vehicle into service - an FE 320 6x2 rigid supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland (Edinburgh).
The day cab truck is powered by Volvo's D8K engine, includes an I-Shift automated manual transmission and has a 30-foot beavertail plant body from Lothian Vehicle Bodybuilders Ltd (LVB).
Its body features an engineered sub-chassis that delivers a low bed height and a double hinged, heavy-duty powered ramp provides a shallow approach angle for safe loading or unloading. There is also a pull winch fitted immediately behind the FE's day cab.
Family-owned Dechmont Forklift Trucks has been trading for more than 30 years and is Scotland's dealer for CAT forklifts, providing new and used equipment for sale, contract hire, short-term rental as well as service and maintenance cover.
Davey Forrest, MD at Dechmont Forklift Trucks said the FE-320 chassis, with a twin tyre tag axle, was selected for its weight capabilities. "The location of the Edinburgh dealership of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland proved attractive, as it's only a few hundred yards from our own premises”, he said.
"Our largest CAT forklift truck model weighs in at 13.5 tonnes, which is well within the payload factor of our new Volvo FE.”
