Timber firm CJ Sheeran has taken delivery of six Volvo FH 460 4x2 tractor units – its first ever new trucks.

Supplied by Irish Commercials via a contract hire deal from Volvo Financial Services, each is fitted with the 460hp D13K engine, a  12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox and a Globetrotter cab.

They will work double-shifts six days a week, and are expected to cover around 100,000km a year delivering timber and pallets throughout Ireland.

The vehicles were supplied with the manufacturer’s  Gold Contract repair and maintenance cover and its Dynafleet fleet management system.

“It was a fairly simple choice in the end – Volvo offered the best fuel figures with a truck our drivers loved,” said CJ Sheeran MD Mark Sheeran.

“Our fleet is moving towards Volvo in totality, thus keeping our 80 curtainsider trailers  on the move effectively and efficiently.”

“These are the first new trucks we have had, and we are really looking forward to seeing the results they can achieve for us,” he added.
