Waitrose intends to create 600 logistics jobs with a new £35m Chorley, Lancashire DC.

The 360,000ft2 hub is subject to planning permission but, pending approval, would open in Autumn 2012, providing storage and distribution for shops in the north of England and Scotland.

David Jones, supply chain director at Waitrose, says: "We've made no secret of our plans to take the Waitrose brand to more people in more places, and we are currently under represented in the north, a key area for our growth ambitions."

The planned facility will support Waitrose's existing Bardon, Leicestershire DC.
