The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has awarded Palletways member Walkers Transport accredited training centre status.

The haulier will start offering IOSH courses next month, open to managers at its depots in Leeds and Manchester, as well as other Palletways network firms. Group health and safety manager at Walkers Transport and chartered member of IOSH Zoe Lunn will deliver the courses.

She said: “I’ve been an IOSH trainer for years, so it made sense to bring the training in-house. The four-day classroom-based scheme has an exam and an assessment at the end, which delegates need to complete within two weeks of the course finishing.

“IOSH validates the exam results and assessment paper and if successful, delegates receive an IOSH-accredited certificate. The course is aimed at middle managers who deal with the day-to-day running of operations and manage other staff members.

“It’s been designed to help raise awareness of their health and safety responsibilities.”
