Watts Trucks, part of the Lydney, Gloucestershire-based Watts Group, has expanded its operation along the south coast of Wales with the purchase of Daf Trucks and LDV van distributor Swansea Truck Centre.

It had already acquired truck dealerships in Newport and Cardiff. Watts Group director Stewart Charters says: "We've been able to realise our strategy of extending our regional presence by adding adjoining Daf franchises to our established Gloucester-based dealership and at the same time retain the strong management teams that have made these businesses so successful."

Swansea Truck Centre will benefit, he adds, from a being in a "huge organisation". Now Watts Trucks is aiming to consolidate its position, pretty much ruling out any further expansions for the time being.

Swansea Truck Centre operates from Cwmdu Industrial Estate, and was founded by John Landon, with other partners, in 1985. Landon says: "This is a unique opportunity to be part of a strong regional group dedicated to providing excellent customer service."

Watts Trucks now has seven sites: Gloucester, Worcester, Hereford, Yate and three in South Wales.
