Web watch: Trucks ‘R’ Us

Ipswich-based dealer Trucks ‘R’ Us offers a website that is clear and simple to navigate, as Web Watch discovered.

Part of tru7.com, it offers as many vans as it does trucks, with a small quantity of plant and a few 4x4s also available. Choosing one of these four categories is the first decision a visitor is prompted to make on opening the site.

For the buyer with particular requirements, a free-text keyword search box is also displayed prominently on the uncluttered homepage.

Carry out a search or select a category and more drop-down search filters become available, including: manufacturer; price range; body type; and age. In this way the site guides you through your search without overwhelming you with options.

The stock consists primarily of singleowner fleet vehicles. During  our visit to the site, a tidy 2015 MAN TGM 18.250 with beaver-tail body and 5,000km on the clock grabbed our attention.

The product photography is excellent, with multiple clear shots showing each vehicle from  various external angles. Photographs from inside the cab or trailer are provided in many cases, and even the occasional video.

On a desktop, clicking on an image opens up a large version in a pop-up window, allowing closer inspection of details. While this feature does not work on mobile devices, it is easier to zoom in.

The product description is detailed, and presented alongside information including vehicle colour, fuel type, engine and mileage. The simple contact form on every listing lets visitors make an enquiry in no time. And, as the entire site is mobile-responsive, it works equally well on tablet and mobile.
