Mercedes-Benz dealer Western Commercial has opened a £750,000 van preparation centre close to its headquarters in Broxburn, Edinburgh.

Four technicians handle pre-delivery inspections, apply liveries and fit accessories and extras at the building, which has full valeting facilities and six bays - all with ramps. Aftersales director Derek Cotton said the facility has relieved pressure on the main 24-hour workshop, which is used by truck and van operators.

“Taking this work out of our main workshop has freed up significant capacity, which has allowed us to reduce lead times and speed up the rate at which we are able to maintain and repair vehicles before setting them back on the road,” he explained. “It has also freed up space in the yard, which means there’s more room for parking.”
