Warehousing and removals specialist Whittle Movers Limited has gone into administration, after suffering a sharp decline in volumes and poor cash flow.

Its parent company Whittle Movers Group, which is not in administration, appointed Paul Flint and Brian Green of KPMG as joint administrators of its subsidiary on 8 March. Some 27 out of 33 employees were immediately made redundant.

Lancashire-based Whittle Movers Limited, which has an O-licence for 64 vehicles and 75 trailers, had recently experienced a significant reduction in orders from a key contract, which exacerbated difficulties it had been facing with its cash flow, according to KPMG.

Flint says: "We are now actively seeking buyers for the business and its assets and would encourage any interested parties to contact us as soon as possible."

The last results filed at Companies House reveal the firm generated sales of £8.27m for the 12 months to 31 January 2010.
