Cambridgeshire haulier RD Williams and Sons (Haulage) has celebrated its fifty years in the business with the purchase of a highly-specced example of Iveco’s new S-WAY. Williams was the first UK operator to order the new model, one of two, from Guest Truck and Van.

The 6x2 S-WAY, powered by a 480 Cursor 11 engine, has a specification that includes upper rear lockers, alloy wheels and perimeter lighting kit. It joins the 50 trucks and 100 trailers on the Huntingdon-based fleet, whose operations include moving floor haulage and pallet transport, as a member of TPN.

Andy Williams, director and third-generation leader of the business, said: “We have a range of Iveco vehicles across our fleet and when we were introduced to the Iveco S-WAY, I felt it would complement our fleet perfectly. It is a fantastic vehicle and obviously, by going with the premium specification, we feel we will be getting the absolute best from what it has to offer.”

Delivery of the new truck was made by Guest key account director Bal Singh, who has dealt with Williams for over half its life. He said “We are delighted to continue this partnership with Williams and think it should make a perfect fiftieth birthday present for Andy and the team. The Iveco S-WAY has already proven to be incredibly popular amongst our clients, thanks to its clean and green credentials and incredible connectivity. The team have gone all out to ensure that they get the absolute best this incredible vehicle has to offer and I am sure they will put it to good use.”
