Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland has supplied wholesaler Williamson Foodservice with two new Volvo FE 280 18-tonne rigids.
The north of Scotland-based firm specified the FEs with rear-air suspension, 280hp D8K engines, I-Shift automated gearboxes and Comfort Cabs with increased interior space and storage. Both feature Gray and Adams temperature-controlled bodies and twin-condenser Carrier Supra refrigeration units.
They also come with factory-fitted, lower kerbside passenger door windows to make cyclists and pedestrians more visible. The vehicles, which include five-year, Volvo Gold R&M contracts through the dealer’s Inverness branch, will deliver food and drink products to hotels, restaurants, cafes and retailers across the Highlands.
Gary Williamson, MD at Williamson Foodservice, which runs 29 trucks, said: "Our 1,200 customers have a multitude of food or drink requirements and they are spread over one of the UK's most challenging distribution areas. We require vehicles that are well equipped, robust and reliable enough to deal with long distance runs over single track roads that are regularly subject to extreme changes in weather.
“Also, it almost goes without saying that our customer orders must arrive in the freshest condition and on time. Our new Volvo FE rigids tick all the boxes. We are delighted to mark our 60th anniversary with the purchase of these two eye-catching FE rigids, which incorporate our new branding."
