Wincanton is taking delivery of 100 Renault Range T tractor units - its largest ever order for the vehicle.

The 100 6x2 tractors - made up of 75 11-litre T460s and 25 13-litre T480s - began entering service last month. All come with Renault Trucks’ Optifleet Fuel Eco+ Pack, including Optivision, which uses road topography to optimise gear shifting, reducing fuel consumption.

They are also equipped with Renault Trucks’ intelligent driving assistance technologies, such as lane departure warning system, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Funding is through Renault Trucks Financial Services and the trucks are on three-year operating leases and maintained by Pullman Fleet, part of the Wincanton Group.

The Range Ts will work across Wincanton’s construction and general haulage contracts. Carl Hanson, Wincanton group fleet director, said: “We’ve been impressed by the existing Range Ts on our fleet, which are delivering strong operating performance with excellent fuel economy. “The latest vehicles are highly specified with advanced technologies that promote more fuel efficient driving and safeguard our drivers, their loads and other road users, while increasing productivity and fleet utilisation.”

Renault Trucks’ commercial director Nigel Butler said: “Renault Trucks’ on-going commitment to reducing total cost of ownership and on-road risk through enhanced technologies is ensuring that customers like Wincanton are able to meet their own targets more effectively.”
