Wincanton depot jobs in jeopardy

About 300 jobs could be under threat at two Wincanton sites in the north of England. This follows Sainsbury's decision to consolidate operations supporting its convenience store business to a depot at Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire. The two affected depots are at Maltby, South Yorkshire, and Skelton in Teesside. A Wincanton spokesman says it is looking to redeploy staff to other sites in the region. However, the firm is talking to customers about potential use for the two sites.
