Wisbech Roadways, the operator consortium comprising three well-known East Anglian hauliers, has renewed its distribution contract with principle customer Premier Foods.
The business was originally set up in 1998 by Garn Transport, Knowles Transport and Jack Richards & Son - the new deal will take the operation through to 2012.
Ian Ramsay, general manager of Wisbech Roadways, says that the contract is worth around £15m per year to the consortium.
He adds: "I think that the standards that have been achieved over the first 12 years of the contract [were a major reason for the renewal]. There was a willingness from all parties to try and continue the relationship so long as we could maintain the level of service.
"This is all round good news for everybody concerned."
The three operators handle about 800 loads per week between them, covering Premier Foods sites in Wisbech, Cambs; Long Sutton, Lincs; Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk; and Histon, Cambs.
