Chelmsford-based Woodland Logistics has secured two contracts worth £10.5m collectively over the next three years.

The first is a three-year, £4.5m deal, with bespoke precast concrete component manufacturer Milbank, previously handled by Canute Haulage.

"This is a fully managed logistics service for Milbank," says Woodland Logistics MD Sean Kirby. "Our bid was built on a transparent operating and costing platform in order to develop efficiencies in the supply chain and improve service levels to the growing Milbank customer base."

Woodland will put a dedicated management team on the Milbank contract, to be based at Milbank's Essex production facility. "We'll also operate 14 tractor units and trailers from that facility," adds Kirby.

Woodland has also secured a three-year renewal with Benham Goodhead Print (BGP) of Bicester. Woodland has managed the logistics for BGP for the past four years.

"The renewal - worth £2m a year - means we will facilitate the phenomenal growth strategy of BGP for the next three years and continue to improve service levels and cost base efficiencies," says Kirby.

BGP produces more than 3,000 tons of printed magazine products per week from its site in Bicester and is one of the industry leaders in the UK.
