Adding to its fleet of 140 vehicles, Woody’s Express Parcels has taken delivery of five new trucks and three trailers. Supplied by Asset Alliance Group, the order includes three new DAF XG 530 trucks, one 26-tonne MAN curtainsider, an 18-tonne DAF curtainsider and three double-deck trailers. The latest delivery follows several orders fulfilled by Asset Alliance Group over the past 12 months.

Owner, David Wood, said: “They have been brilliant for our business over the years – and I’m very happy with this latest deal. I have an excellent relationship with their business development manager, Dougie Bennett. It’s a people business and he’s always been very reliable, loyal and kind to us. That’s why I keep returning to Asset Alliance Group.”

Woody’s new vehicles are on a three-year contract hire agreement. 18 months ago the company acquired another transport firm so the new units will be spread across different contracts. This will include trunking routes between Woody’s depots in Glasgow, Inverness, Stornoway and Wick.

The company runs a mixed fleet but Wood has praised the new generation DAF XG model. Thanks to the spacious cab and high specification inside, he says it’s a great driver’s truck and a good visual representation of his company on the road. Wood added: “Driver comfort is hugely important. These DAFs have lots of interior space and provide some fantastic cab features. If you want good drivers, you need quality vehicles.”

Bennett of Asset Alliance Group, said: “Woody’s Express Parcels plays a vital role in haulage and delivery services between the islands and the north and central Scotland. We value their business and are delighted to be supporting the firm’s continued growth.”

Headquartered in Stornoway, Woody’s Express Parcels was established in 1986. Its core business is delivering parcels and palletised goods to customers across the Highlands and Islands. National and international work is also supported by subcontractors.

Asset Alliance and DAF will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo which takes place from 4-6 June at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. It is completely free to attend for visitors, so why not book your place today?!
