Worldwide Flight Services has taken delivery of 12 new 18-tonne Iveco Eurocargo trucks for its ground handling operations at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Supplied by Iveco Retail in Hayes, each Eurocargo has a 6.7-litre, 250hp engine and they feature flatbed bodies built by AMSS.

The flatbed bodies have impact-resistant rollers to provide greater protection to air freight during the loading and unloading process.

The trucks will be used 24/7, 365 days a year, and join a 54-strong fleet of which 16 are Ivecos. Maintenance work will be carried out at the local Iveco dealership, via an R&M package.

Ronnie Roberts, transport and logistics manager for the firm’s Heathrow operation, said: “With the stop-start nature of the work we do, our drivers are in and out of the vehicles all the time.

“We need cabs offering easy access, and the fact the Eurocargo has been set up for multi-drop work means it’s perfect for our operation.
