Yodel has created a linehaul division - Yodel Transport - as part of its ongoing restructure.
Yodel, which was created after the merger of HDNL and DHL last year, says the new subsidiary will bring together a pool of mainly drivers from the two businesses under one umbrella.
As revealed exclusively last month, the parcel giant is axing up to 60 of its 120 depots and closing four of its eight national hubs.
Roadtransport.com understands Yodel Transport is dedicated to hub and line-haul services. Jamie Stephenson, MD of the new subsidiary, says: "The new standalone business enables us to optimise our operation, and deliver efficiencies in design and execution."
The company will start to take delivery of 107 double-deck trailers with lifting decks from Don-Bur from June. Yodel Transport says this will help it to save 7,200 miles per working day.
