Blaze at JS Trucks was no accident, claim Essex Fire Service

An investigation into a blaze at East Tilbury commercial vehicle recycler JS Trucks, which affected three vehicles, has found that it was started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to the firm’s premises on the Readmans Industrial Estate in the early hours of Monday 27 August after receiving a number of calls and reports of minor explosions.

The electricity board had to isolate supply to the site as the power hampered operations.

The fire involved three lorries, an artic, a 7.5-tonner and a flatbed, as well as a quantity of scrap, and took more than an hour and a half to put out.

A spokesman for the company said the blaze caused around £30,000 worth of damage, but that it did not need to relocate premises in order to continue trading.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that it had ruled out the possibility that it was started accidentally.
