Business with most franchises update: Pelican Engineering adds Dulevo
Sissons & Sons switch to MAN
The Sherburn-in-Elmet based company undertook a three-year, multi-brand, in-house trial, during which the TGX 26.440BLS 6x2 tractor units emerged as the most cost-effective truck. The deal for 12 TGX 26.440 6x2 tractor units with top-of-the-range XXL cabs - the first two are already in service - will replace DAF XF105 and Iveco's.
Bryan Sissons, MD, says that in the MAN's first week the TGX 26.440 returned just under 9.0mpg. "It's bedded in a bit now, and we're seeing over 9.0mpg regularly.
"For our operation, and at 44 tonnes, that's an exceptional fuel return - and all without AdBlue. I'm very much looking forward to the time when the whole fleet consists entirely of MAN trucks," he says.
The trucks will be fitted with MAN Fleet Management systems and MAN EcoStyle, MAN's web-based driver performance tool. Pelican Engineering, based in Normanton, will do the work on the three-year repair and maintenance contracts.
"We've had a relationship with Pelican Engineering, Normanton, since 1936, and during recent years they have been our sole supplier of over 500 trucks because the level of service really is second-to-none," he says.
