Commercial Contract Engineers

Over the past seven years a small team of technicians at Commercial Contract Engineers has been instrumental in the delivery of a major regeneration project for the Ministry of Defence (MOD). In July 2011 the company was approached by the operational director at FTX Logistics regarding tendering for the regeneration of ex-operational heavy equipment transport vehicles damaged by improvised explosive devices (IEDs). FTX was looking to engage with a partner that could carry out extensive repairs to the vehicles that are on lease to the MOD. No company in the UK had previously carried out this type of work before, which meant that there were no guidelines or work methods to follow. Judges said the firm had shown a good approach to a difficult, unusual and important request from a customer and had demonstrated a lot of innovation. They also praised Commercial Contract Engineers for showing a high level of technical expertise.

Waldron Commercials

Waldron Commercials has a team of nine technicians, three apprentices and five administrators. Over the past year the team has embraced a new in-house training programme that has delivered more than 400 hours of training in diagnostic, IRTEC, first aid, forklift, MoT and Driver CPC. The company said the programme has helped develop employees’ confidence and communication skills when dealing with customers and helped it score an average of 98.5% in customer service feedback reports. There is also a 97% first-time fix rate, with productivity running at 93.5%. The team has maintained impressive pass rates on its ATF lane, which manages 30 tests a month. Judges said the company provides high levels of customer service and displays strong levels of expertise across a variety of vehicle brands.
