Rogers Transport orders its third S-WAY from Hendy Truck & Van

Basingstoke-based Rogers Transport has placed an order for its third Iveco S-WAY 570 6x2 tractor from Hendy Truck & Van, following a positive experience with its first example.

“We put one on the road in January, and it hasn’t given us any trouble,” said MD Simon Rogers, who is photographed here with transport manager wife Emma and children Luke and Summer. “The driver really likes it, and we had no hesitation ordering more.”

Rogers Transport, which operates an 18-strong fleet, has been running Ivecos since the days of the EuroTech, and has a good relationship with local dealer Hendy Truck & Van. “They can’t do enough to help us,” explained Emma, who gives the example of service manager Dan Pledger who was contactable on new year’s day when they needed to get hold of him. “Of all the dealers we have dealt with, they have been the most helpful,” she said.

Roger Transport’s second S-WAY, which was ordered in February is about to go on the road, while the latest purchase is due for delivery in February 2022.

Cool DAF quartet for Harlech Foodservice

Food wholesaler Harlech Foodservice has procured four 12-tonne DAF LF rigids. They are fitted with multi-compartment bodies from Solomon Commercials and Carrier Transicold Supra 850 MT Silent refrigeration units.

The vehicles form part of the firm’s 32-strong fleet and replace older models. They are based at the company’s headquarters in Criccieth, North Wales, will be on the road six days a week delivering chilled and frozen products to Wales and North West England. They are expected to cover between 40,000 and 50,000km a year and remain in service for around 12 years.

“At peak times we could be making 20 or 30 drops a day,” said Harlech’s joint chairman, Jonathan Foskett.

“With that many door openings you must be sure the fridge unit can cope and that the cold chain will be maintained. Happily, the Supras [fitted to other models] have never let us down,” he added.

“Over the years we’ve specified both multi-temp Supra 750 and 850 units, matching the different power outputs to specific applications in our fleet… they guarantee us consistent, reliable performance with impeccable temperature recovery and rapid pull-down speeds, and since we introduced the low-noise version three years ago we also get the added bonus of a much quieter unit.”
