Used Truck of the Day is a Scania 142M that’s been imported from New Zealand.
This overseas import is right-hand-drive and is said to be in a very clean and original condition.
It has a V8 engine and is a double drive 6x4 tractor unit with spring suspension.
Importantly, it’s also said to have no rot in the cab or on the chassis. See the full advert here.
Speed Welshpool aims for the stars
Speed Welshpool, the independent parcel, pallet and general haulage provider covering Mid Wales and Shropshire, has celebrated a record trading year with the acquisition of a special commemorative Scania R520 V8. In the 10 years of its ownership by the Edwards family, the business had been projected to pass a turnover of £5.2m in the latest financial year. However the actual figure turned out to be in excess of £5.6m.
With activities including membership of the Palletways and DX Freight networks, Speed Welshpool also engages in general haulage, including the prestigious Radnor Hills bottled water distribution contract.
MD George Edwards said: “A happy coincidence that we ended up smashing this milestone and the vehicle we looked at buying was a 520. We are very driver focussed so wanted to get some special kit - with a Scania being a driver’s truck, we thought why not and let’s go for a V8. One idea led to another and we then thought let’s get this wrapped in some special graphics to really stand out from the crowd. And here we are!”
The truck, acquired from West Pennine Trucks in Knighton, has a unique livery featuring elements of its regular star-spangled design, with the prominent addition of the motto Per Aspera Ad Astra, "through hardships to the stars".
