Thyssen named as new MAN Truck & Bus UK MD

Stefan Thyssen has been named as the new MD of MAN Truck & Bus UK, replacing Thomas Hemmerich who has been appointed the MD for the National Sales Company, Korea.

Thyssen, who is currently head of MAN Truck & Bus Scandinavia, will take up his new position on 1st July 2021 having worked in a number of roles within the company since joining in 2007.

Thyssen has previously held positions in business development, corporate planning, program management and group controlling, before moving in 2017 to MAN Truck & Bus UK as finance director.

In 2020 he became MD of MAN Scandinavia, covering the Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Executive board member for sales and marketing MAN Truck & Bus SE, Goran Nyberg, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Stefan to lead the team in the UK, a market area which is already, due to his previous role as UK financial director, familiar to him.”

“Stefan’s broad experience within MAN comprehensively demonstrates a deep understanding of the strategically important UK market. Because of Stefan’s past the relationships with UK customers, the dealer network and the MAN Truck & Bus team is already established and we all wish him well for the future.”

Thyssen said: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to head up MAN Truck & Bus UK and I’m very much looking forward to once again meeting with customers, the dealer network and the team.”

Arocs a big hit at Barrachander Quarry

Barrachander Quarry have taken delivery of two new Mercedes-Benz Arocs 8x4 tippers after being impressed by an ex-demo vehicle they bought earlier in the year.

The Argyll-based firm transports basalt for various civil engineering projects including road building and repairs and railway infrastructure maintenance, and have specified the new vehicles with ClassicSpace M-cabs, steel Boweld bodies and 400hp engines.

The vehicles were supplied by Western Commercial and will be maintained in-house but also have an ExtendPlus warranty giving them the same cover as the first-year warranty but over three years.

“We’ve enjoyed close support from the manufacturer as well as our local dealer,” said owner Calum McCrae. “This has given us the confidence that has underpinned our recent decision to purchase the new trucks. As far as parts are concerned we have four of everything we’re likely to need to keep us on the road, and Western Commercial replenish the stock as necessary. Meanwhile, on the odd occasions we’ve had to call for Mercedes-Benz assistance – for example, when a warning light has come up on the dash – its Service 24h technician has responded quickly and efficiently.”
