Police say a hostage situation at the Advantage HGV training offices in central London is over and that a man has been arrested.

It was reported that four people were taken hostage after a man walked into the firm's premises in Tottenham Court Road earlier today, saying he had nothing to live for after not getting an HGV Licence.

Police explosives experts and negotiators attended the scene when a man started throwing computers, furniture and paper from the building.

Eyewitnesses said a man had a gas canister tied to his body.
