Isuzu Truck UK sign AK Commercials for parts and service dealership in Bristol

Isuzu Truck UK has added Bristol-based AK Commercials to its network as a parts and service dealership.

Kevin Archer, dealer principal at AK Commercial, said; “As a long established company in the area, we were recommended to Isuzu by some of our customers. There is a healthy Isuzu vehicle parc in the area and we had positive feedback about the Isuzu product range.

“Already we have found that there has been considerable interest in our services as a result of taking on the Isuzu marque and we look forward to developing the Isuzu business over the next 12 months.”

Keith Child, marketing director at Isuzu Truck UK, added: “Ideally located close to the important M4/M5 corridor, AK Commercials is a significant addition to our presence here in the West Country. Complimenting our existing dealer arrangements, we are now in an even stronger position to further develop and maintain the Isuzu vehicle parc in this region.”

Western Commercial gets Mercedes-Benz Truck and Van franchise for Dundee

Western Commercial, the Mercedes-Benz truck and van dealer for Scotland’s Central Belt, has been awarded a major extension to its area of operation with the Dundee franchise.

The deal follows the purchase of the previous franchisee for both cars and commercial John R Weir by Arnold Clark, in what The Scotsman described as a multi-million pound deal. The deal involved all 321 employees and 11 showrooms. Just two weeks later Arnold Clark sold its Aberdeen-based CV-dealership to vehicle rental company TOM.

Now Western Commercial, who have dealerships in Bellshill, Edinburgh and Glasgow, can expand on its current site in Dundee, a vehicle maintenance unit on Riverside Drive for Brakes Group.

Nineteen members of staff formerly employed by John R Weir have been transferred. Western Commercial market area director Andrew Smith said: “The manufacturer’s decision to award us its Dundee franchise represents a tremendously exciting opportunity for our business.

“We now cover a huge swathe of Scotland, including its biggest and most densely populated cities, and have a truck sales franchise that extends from Ayr on the west coast to Dundee in the east. It’s a great responsibility, but one with which we’re proud to have been entrusted.”

He added that further down the line, Western Commercial see great potential for sales growth, particularly with the arrival early in the New Year of the Citan, the first Mercedes-Benz city van.

Western Commercial also revealed that it is poised to open a welcoming new sales centre with van showroom and servicing facilities, including an MoT bay, on Edinburgh Road, Perth.
