GX2 recruits new quality test engineer
GX2 Technology Group, the parent company of Wheely-Safe and, has appointed Martin O’Shea as its quality test engineer.
His role involves testing and developing new Wheely-Safe and Fit2Go Fit2Go tyre pressure monitoring systems prototypes before production, alongside ensuring the quality of the products ahead of installation.
Having left UTC Aerospace Systems, where he worked as a senior development engineer for the past eight years, O’Shea said: “I met the owners and was sold on their enthusiasm and product development plans. I knew immediately this was a chance to be a part of something which is going to improve road safety.”
Prior to this, he spent 11 years at automotive safety products TRW.
Eminox opens new plant in Stoke
Eminox has opened a new Retrofit Service and Support Centre alongside an Aftermarket Distribution hub in Stoke-on-Trent. The site will specialise in SCRT upgrades and CRT systems for Euro-6 vehicles, which claim to reduce diesel emissions by up to 99%.
Retrofit sales director, Carlos Vicente, said: “This expansion of our service capabilities puts us in a fantastic position to meet the growing demand for our SCRT technology.”
The move was prompted by the expansion of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to include more areas of the city come October 2020. Other UK cities, like Manchester and Leeds, are set to introduce clean air zones too.
Owners of Euro-5 trucks or lower could be subject to payments of £100 per day if they choose to operate within these zones. The upgrades cost from £15,000 to £20,000 and take 40 hours to install.
The new Distribution Hub, the firm claims, reflects the success of its OE replacement DPFs range since its launch in 2018. Stoke is a good location as it allows easy access to road networks allowing for operators to get parts faster.
Aftermarket manager, Neil Koston, said: “The new distribution hub allows us to provide rapid response to our distributors and make our DPFs available for next-day delivery to keep vehicles on the move. The DPFs are a direct-fit aftermarket replacement and have passed European testing.”
“Many customers are already planning to opt for a cost effective SCRT solution to upgrade to Euro-6 to comply with the demands of a new wave of emission control zones” added Vincente. He also stated that Eminox is expanding its range for buses, coaches and specialist HGVs.
