Un ar gyfer Gogledd-orllewin Lloegr lle bydd yr ymgeisydd yn gweithio yn Golborne ger Warrington a’r llall ar gyfer Cymru lle y bydd yn gweithio yng Nghaerdydd neu Gaernarfon. Efallai y bydd gofyn i’r ddau Gomisiynydd deithio i rannau eraill o’r rhanbarth ac ar draws Prydain.
Y Comisiynwyr Traffig sy’n gyfrifol am drwyddedu a rheoleiddio’r rheiny sy’n gyrru cerbydau nwyddau trwm, bysiau a choetsis, a chofrestru gwasanaethau bysiau lleol. Gall Comisiynwyr Traffig Prydain Fawr wrando ar achosion yn enwedig apeliadau a chwynion o feysydd traffig eraill sy'n cael eu dirprwyo gan yr Uwch-gomisiynydd Traffig, ac felly gall gynnal y dyletswyddau mewn unrhyw fan ym Mhrydain. Fe’u cynorthwyir yn y gwaith hwn gan ddirprwy Gomisiynwyr Traffig, sy’n llywyddu dros nifer o ymchwiliadau cyhoeddus ac sy’n delio ag achosion ysgrifenedig. Mae gwaith fel Comisiynydd neu Ddirprwy yn cael ei gydnabod gan y Comisiwn Penodiadau Barnwrol fel gwaith sy'n cyfateb i brofiad mewn tribiwnlys.

Traffic Commissioner Appointments For Wales and North West of England Regions
Location: 1 x North West Traffic Area based in Golborne, near Warrington
1 x Wales based in Cardiff or Caernarfon
Start date: October 2019
Length of appointment: Permanent
Time commitment: 42 hours (over a 5 day week) including one hour daily meal breaks
Remuneration: £101,287 per annum (Traffic Commissioners' salaries are linked to the public sector pay policy for the judiciary).
Expenses: Reasonable expenses in the course of duty will be reimbursed. Precise details will be detailed in the terms and conditions. No relocation expenses will be paid.
Essential criteria for the Welsh role only: Welsh skills are essential but candidates who do not poses this essential skill but are willing to commit to learning the Welsh language will be considered. Candidates should be a qualified solicitor, barrister or lawyer
The Department for Transport is seeking to recruit two Traffic Commissioners. One for the North West of England based in Golborne near Warrington the other for Wales based in Cardiff or Caernarfon. For both roles travel to other parts of the region and Great Britain will be required.
Traffic Commissioners are responsible for the licensing and regulation of those who operate heavy goods vehicles, buses and coaches, and the registration of local bus services. Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain can hear cases, particularly appeals and complaints from other traffic areas as delegated by the Senior Traffic Commissioner, and thus can undertake duties anywhere in Great Britain. They are assisted in this work by Deputy Traffic Commissioners, who preside over a number of public inquiries and handle written cases. Work as a Commissioner or Deputy is recognised by the Judicial Appointments Commission as being equivalent to tribunal experience.
Currently, Traffic Commissioners are appointed to the age of 65 years and renewed for a period up to their 66th birthday subject to approval by the Secretary of State.

Non-HGV-holding visitors to Convoy in the Park can take part in a driving experience
Non-HGV-holding visitors to the Convoy in the Park event will be able to take part in a supervised driving experience using two of Nottinghamshire haulage group Taylors Transport’s artics, an offer organised in conjunction with and to raise funds for the local arm of the Rotary Club. The supervisors will be two of the instructors from Taylors’ own HGV driver training arm which, uniquely, is the only haulier-owned school in the country with its own on-site examiner, and caters for both external and internal trainees.
“It's a great facility, and it enables us to take prospective new drivers on, put them through their test and then give them a job at the end of it,” Alan Taylor, MD, Taylors Transport
This has helped a great deal with driver recruitment, with roughly a 50/50 split now within Taylors' own fleet between these such apprentice-type drivers and experienced drivers who have joined from elsewhere. New drivers are sent out with a mentor to start with, and begin by doing local jobs and shunting, while those coming in from other firms are given other work. “Driver retention is all about fitting pegs in holes,” MD Alan Taylor comments. “We've got a variety of work, from general haulage to pallet network and night trunking, so there's no point putting them on nights out if they don't want nights out. You've got to have an understanding of what they want if you want them to stick with it.”
Some of Taylors' longest-serving staff have been with the business for more than 30 years, but all have been through the same induction process, regardless of how long they've been behind the wheel. “Am I a CPC believer? Yes,” Alan assures us – CPC training being something else the firm provides. “Even if they've been driving a long time, people get complacent, so we've got modules on everything from strapping to walk-round checks, and even one which incorporates what to do in an accident.” But the important thing is that everyone who comes to Taylors' door is given a chance, because that's what this operator is all about, and why the firm puts so much time, money and effort into its presence at Convoy in the Park.
“People ask what we get out of it and I'm not sure really,” Alan confesses. “It gets our name out there, we get closer to our customers and we and our staff enjoy it. Whether it's worth it I don't know – but I'd rather spend the money on this than on flashy sports cars. That's the way this business is run, you see. It's all about looking after people. At least I can sleep at night because I try and keep people right.”
