VisionTrack appoints new European sales director
Connected vehicle cameras and video telematics company VisionTrack has appointed Vernon Bonser as European sales director in an effort to increase growth.
It is hoped the appointment will enable VisionTrack to take advantage of business development opportunities in the UK and mainland Europe thanks to the newly created role. Bonser has more than 20 years of experience in the telematics industry, and will now look to create a network of European channel partners in the fleet, vehicle tracking and insurance sectors.
Joining from TomTom Telematics, Bonser has spent the last eight years in a number of senior sales roles, and was most recently head of corporate business in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Prior to joining TomTom Telematics, he held business development positions at Cybit, DA Systems, Bluecom Group and Tracker Networks.
Bonser said: “Connected vehicle camera solutions are transforming the fleet telematics marketplace, so I am excited to be joining the industry leader within this rapidly developing field. There is huge potential for video telematics especially within mainland Europe, as recognition grows about the safety and financial benefits the technology can provide. I will use my current experience and relationships to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist.”
Safety system manufacturer adds financing option to help operators spread fitting costs
The costly business of retro-fitting safety systems and systems to detect vulnerable road users will get a little easier as one manufacturer has joined forces with a finance provider to help operators spread the costs.
Leeds-based SM UK has launched a partnership with Manchester-based finance provider PMD Business to allow SM UK’s customers to repay the costs over several years.
“It is a significant investment to kit out several vehicles with equipment that improves their safety and helps protect vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians,” said Steve MacDonald, SM UK founder. “But it is being seen as an absolute must-have by responsible fleet owning businesses for whom safety is increasingly becoming an utmost priority.
“Under the partnership with PMD we will be able to help more of our clients to fit safety equipment such as our HALO system of camera-based, lighting and ultrasonic detection features, which are making the roads safer every day,” he added.
