Clive Cowern Transport expands with high-tech fridges
Bridgnorth, Shropshire haulier Clive Cowern Transport has trebled the size of its temperature controlled fleet to meet increased demand, with 10 new 13.6m trailers joining the existing five. These are part of a total fleet size of 53 vehicles, small and large, which includes general haulage, PalletTrack membership and warehousing in its portfolio.
The new trailers comprise nine from Chereau and a singleton from Schmitz Cargobull. All are equipped with Carrier Transicold refrigeration systems. The Chereaus have Carrier’s flagship Vector HE 19 multi-temperature units, with the Schmitz Cargobull having a mono-temperature Vector 1550.
All feature the E-Drive all-electric technology, which helps to significantly reduce refrigerant leak rates and CO2 emissions. The Vector HE 19 units include the latest multi-speed engine design, said to deliver up to 30% fuel savings compared with the previous Vector 1950. Its fully hermetic scroll compressor and economiser provides a 40% increase in refrigeration capacity during pull-down, a 19% improvement in electrical efficiency on standby, and a 3dB(A) reduction in noise levels. All are digitally managed by Carrier’s telematics and supported by a BluEdge Elite comprehensive service contract as they travel 160,000km annually.
Tony Jasper, Clive Cowern Transport’s operations manager, said: “The accurate refrigeration and premium fuel performance we saw from our first Carrier unit was outstanding, so when it came to the latest order, they were our obvious first call. The combination of Carrier’s trailer technology and telematics offering means we’re seeing fuel efficiency far beyond what our previous supplier’s products could manage.”
