DAF Trucks to exhibit at Commercial Motor Show 2020 (29 September - 1 October)

DAF Trucks is the latest truck manufacturer to confirm its attendance at the Commercial Motor Show, a virtual exhibition for the road transport industry. Other companies already committed include Isuzu Truck UK, MAN Truck & Bus and Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

The three-day event, which takes place on 29 September – 1 October, is expected to attract a 10,000-plus audience, all without the need for social distancing. In addition to seeing the latest vehicles, products and services, visitors to this free-to-attend event will be able to download information, watch videos, listen to webinars and attend numerous industry seminars. There will also the opportunity to partake in live exhibitor chats, video calls and product demonstrations.

"With face to face meetings on hold for the time being the Commercial Motor Show promises the next best thing; a chance to meet and chat to our customers and potential customers in a virtual world,” says DAF Trucks marketing manager Phil Moon. “We are looking forward to welcoming guests to the DAF stand to share news about DAF product and service developments and to catch up with industry friends and colleagues."

Increased warranty cover on used Volvos

Volvo Used Trucks has extended the warrant cover available on its vehicles. The manufacturer offers three grades of warranty on its used trucks, Volvo Selected, Volvo Approved and Volvo Economy.

The driveline cover included in the price of Volvo Selected vehicles is now 24 months or 360,000km, whichever comes first, with the option of an extension to 36 months or 540,000km, which it points out is longer than the original warranty supplied on a new factory-built vehicle.

Vehicles sold with the mid-range Volvo Approved cover come with a 12 months/180,000km manufacturer’s driveline warranty included, extendable to 24 months/360,000km, while Volvo Economy vehicles, previously offered with a 6-month unlimited-mileage basic driveline warranty, now have an option to extend to 12 months.

Volvo Used Trucks’ national sales and brand manager Carl White said: “We underwrite our own warranties and we know the full history of almost every vehicle we sell. Being able to offer a three-year warranty highlights just how strong our product is; we are pushing up the standards of used trucks all the time. This means it’s possible to purchase a vehicle from us and have warranty cover up to eight years old and beyond 1,000,000 km. That’s a big statement of confidence; we don’t believe there’s a comparable warranty like it on the market.”

Comparing the Volvo cover to rival third-party products, he pointed out AdBlue components and clutches are included, and that claims are authorised directly by Volvo staff and settled directly with the repairing dealer. Volvo Action Service breakdown cover is included for authorised claims on Selected and Approved vehicles, and optional European cover is available.
