GBA Services get 10 new Iveco S-WAYs
GBA Services has taken delivery of 10 new 480-horsepower diesel Iveco S-WAY 6x2 tractor units with mid-lift axles.
The AS440S48TX/P trucks are the first Ivecos to join the 200-strong fleet with the S-WAY part of a fleet refresh of 50 new trucks with 40 trucks being de-fleeted.
The units have been specified with the driver in mind, with a large fridge with cool box, sunroof, leather steering wheel, leather heated and air-conditioned driver’s seat, a leather heated, air conditioned, swivelling passenger seat, external sun visor, air horns, automatic climate control, night heater and nighttime safety lock plus a 7’’ Infotainment system with sat nav.
On the outside there are Alcoa Diamant alloy wheels, LED headlamps with cornering and bending fog lights, LED rear lights, an electric cab tilt and additional under cab storage.
GBA has opted for the high roof AS sleeper cab with twin bunks and cab air kit with corner fins to improve aerodynamics.
“We are currently expanding and renewing the fleet as the business grows and when the Iveco S-WAYs became available they fitted in perfectly with what we needed. The Iveco brand is a new addition to our fleet and the drivers were really keen to get behind the wheel of the new S-WAY. Feedback from them has been extremely positive. Opting for the bigger AS cab has also meant more living space for the driver when they are away from home,” explained Mike Brown, GBA’s head of fleet and compliance.
The IVECO S-WAYs have been put to work on a contract with a national retailer which involves trunking double deck trailers between distribution centres in Amesbury, Wiltshire, and Sheffield.
The units have been purchased outright from Iveco dealer Walton Summit in Preston with a two-year warranty and are set to cover around 160,000km per year.
DAF Night Lock introduced to new DAF XF, XG and XG+
DAF has introduced a unique DAF Night Lock for its new generation DAF truck range.
The Night Lock can be specified on any new XF, XG and XG⁺ and can also be retrofitted through DAF dealers.
The new DAF Night Lock is integrated in the door panel of the new trucks and consists of a steel panel in the colour of the cab trim and features a rocker switch.
When activated, the panel slides down to connect with handrail, blocking the door and preventing intruders from entering the cab.
A red indicator clearly shows that the DAF Night Lock has been activated and a single press of the rocker switch allows the driver to instantly exit the cab in case of an emergency.
Testing has shown that the new DAF Night Lock can withstand forces up to 150% greater than other similar system on the market and DAF says when fitted, the doors of the XF, XG and XG+ cannot be broken open with a crowbar.
