The Green Group stocks up on 63 Lawrence David trailers

The Green Group

The Green Group has bolstered its fleet with the addition of 63 curtainsider trailers from Lawrence David.

The Rotherham-based firm has also fitted Lawrence David’s Trailer-Eye telematics system to its entire 200-plus fleet of trailers, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and cutting trailer downtime.

The pillarless curtainsider trailers, which have been finished in Green Group’s distinctive livery, come with 13.7m tri-axle straight frames and a slimline bulkhead to improve aerodynamics.

Tom Lister, MD of logistics at the Green Group, said Lawrence David's workmanship and customer service had won it the commission.

Lister said the benefits of Lawrence David’s Trailer-Eye telematics unit, which had been fitted to the 63 new trailers, was so impressive the firm had decided to fit the unit across its entire trailer fleet.

He added: “We have already seen multiple benefits to Trailer-Eye.  It’s given us improved visibility on the trailers, improved our efficiency through proactive maintenance and allowed us to begin to reduce trailer downtime.

“Over the next few weeks we’ll finish integrating the Trailer-Eye system into our existing fleet management system, which will give us a greater overview of the fleet.”

Cartwright invests in future development

Cartwright Group is planning to invest in new carbon reduction programmes as well as renewable energies, aerodynamics and weight saving, after appointing Michael Bolger director of engineering.

Bolger’s appointment will allow technical director Lionel Curtis to focus on new innovations for the trailer manufacturer and bodybuilder.

Curtis said: “The move to further develop and expand the engineering and technical areas has created an exciting new chapter for Cartwright and allows me to spend time on innovation and ideas for future product development that are sometimes out of the box, but which will enable Cartwright to stay at the forefront of the industry.”

Group MD Mark Cartwright said: “Our growth in recent years has been unprecedented and we recognised the major benefits we can potentially develop for our customers through investing in Lionel’s passion and skills as an innovator. We believe we now have the dream ticket, having appointed a highly experienced engineer in Michael to head our engineering team and allowing Lionel the time and flexibility to focus on innovation and development projects.”
