Maxus to launch 7.5 tonne light truck in the UK

Chinese manufacturer Maxus revealed an all-new electric 7.5-tonne truck with a driving range of up to 213km. Currently named EH300 the electric light truck has a 128kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery with 60kW continuous power and a 110kW peak output with 635Nm continuous torque and 1200Nm peak. Charging speeds will be up to 102kW on a rapid DC charger taking the battery around 1.5 hours to charge or 11 hours on an AC charger.

Mark Barrett, Harris Maxus general manager, said: “With the possible changes to licences bringing back the entitlement to drive 7.5-tonne vans for car drivers it is a catalyst that has sparked the interest. Without [licence changes], the likes of your home delivery, local authority, and of course your builder types will be interested in it. So we see a big opportunity for it alongside the planned heavy truck model.”

The EH300 7.5-tonne truck will likely join the Maxus range in the UK in late 2023 or early 2024.
