Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul wins prestigious Truck Innovation Award 2023
The Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul has been awarded the Truck Innovation Award, fighting off competition from the ZF eTrailer, the full-electric Volta Trucks Zero range, and Faun Enginius fuel-cell-powered vehicles for municipal missions. The trophy was presented to Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks at the IAA yesterday.
The Truck Innovation Award, which is in its sixth year, acknowledges the enormous technological changes and energy transition within the automotive sector, and is awarded by the International Truck of the Year (IToY) jury. They praised the advanced characteristics of the eActros LongHaul, which employs fast-charging long-service life lithium iron phosphate cell technology (LFP), and the speed of Mercedes-Benz’s R&D process. The truck is undergoing extensive testing, with a view to near-production prototypes hitting the roads with customers in 2023.
Commenting on the win, IToY chairman Gianenrico Griffini said: “The Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul opens a new chapter towards e-mobility. It’s proof that the transition to CO2-neutral long-haul transport is an achievable target, relying on hi-tech solutions and continuous R&D efforts.”
