PD Ports expands fleet with MAN TGX trucks

PD Ports has expanded fleet with 10 new MAN TGX tractor units to use transporting long steel products and other dry bulk items.

Supplied by Dawsongroup truck and trailer on a five-year contract with full repair and maintenance, the XLX 26.470 6x2 tractor units have been specified with an audible handbrake system with driver alert, talking reverse alarm, smoke alarm and all are London Direct Vision Standard compatible.

Gary Archer, PD Ports’ engineering services manager, said: “PD Ports has an active and ongoing investment strategy across its sites, and these new vehicles are part of that. Our business continues to grow, so a high proportion of these are fleet additions. We have had good service from Dawsongroup truck and trailer over the past six years, when they first helped us with some peak demand vehicle needs. They have never let us down, so we were confident in their ability to help us manage the R&M contract to keep any potential downtime to a minimum.”

The vehicles are liveried as part of PD Ports’ Groveport Logistics fleet and will be operating out of PD Ports’ Groveport facility, a 190-acre inland complex on the River Trent.
