Two new generation MAN TGXs for Wreford’s Transport
Wreford’s Transport has added a pair of new generation MAN TGX 26.510 6x2 tractors to its 75-strong fleet.
Featuring GX cabs, the D26-powered newcomers were chosen on the strength of the good performance of the previous generation TGXs on the Northampton-based haulier’s fleet.
“At the beginning of 2019 we took a seed demonstrator vehicle, a MAN TGX 26.460 XLX 6x2 tractor, which performed very well indeed, it’s proven to be a sound workhorse, it’s good on fuel and the drivers like it, and, it continues to impress us,” explained Andy Wreford, director Wreford’s Transport. “Because of these convincing factors we purchased 10 other new MAN’s, a mixture of both tractors and rigids in 2020. If these new generation TGX’s are as good as we both hear and have seen, we’re looking at great things.”
The trucks, which were purchased outright, came as standard with two-year R&M Relax packages. This covers bulbs, oils, top-ups, PMI’s, MoT’s and brake re-lines. The work will be carried out by supplying dealer MAN Truck & Bus Northampton.
“As a company we pride ourselves in offering high levels of customer service and this is where the new MAN trucks will feature,” said Wreford. “They will cover a lot of miles over the next five years, however from what we’ve seen we’re confident that they will fly the Wreford’s Transport flag with pride.”
R Keith Price Haulage adds a Renault mixer to its fleet
R Keith Price Haulage has taken delivery of its first Renault, a Range C380 6x4 with Day Cab and 7m McPhee mixer drum.
The North Powys-based family-run firm had previously run DAFs, but Keith Price made the move to Renault after an online conversation with Stephen Whitehead, MD of Border Trucks, some 200 miles away.
“I’d been following and admiring the vehicles on Border Trucks’ Facebook page and saw other people buying them and I was impressed,” said owner driver Keith Price. “I started chatting with Stephen and he was extremely responsive to queries and ultimately helped to arrange everything, including the finance package. From the first enquiry through to the delivery of the vehicle, Border Trucks made the process flawless.”
The truck, which joins two other mixers working with TG Concrete, part of the Tudor Griffiths Group, is being used to move concrete to builders, construction sites and farms across Mid and West Wales. It has been well spec’d, and features include light bars, reversing camera and LED reversing lights, four-point cab air suspension with ride-height control system, and air conditioning.
It was supplied on a five-year, 50,000km per annum R&M contract, and will be maintained by Perry’s of Gobowen.
