Setanta Vehicle Importers purchases the Renault Trucks Northern Ireland franchise

Dublin-based Setanta Vehicle Importers has purchased the Renault Trucks franchise for Northern Ireland.

The new business will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Setanta Vehicle Importers, trading as Diamond Trucks.

It will operate from its current premises in Mallusk, Belfast, with existing staff and some new, additional sales personnel.

Setanta Vehicle Importers currently operates in Southern Ireland through a network of independent dealers, and will follow the same approach for Northern Ireland.

It is also a Renault Trucks’ approved distributor and repairer through its wholly owned Dublin dealer, Setanta Vehicle Sales.

Diamond Trucks offers new and used vans and trucks, as well as service and parts for the Renault Trucks range, with a fleet of demonstrators including 8x4s and tractor units.

It also provides service contract hire packages through BRS, and a variety of financial service options, including finance and insurance, through Renault Trucks Financial Services.

Harry Nash, dealer principal at Setanta said: “Setanta currently has around 10% market share in Southern Ireland and we have ambitions to grow our van, heavy commercial and used vehicle business in Northern Ireland.

“We will be offering enhanced aftersales services to our NI customers and intend to invest significantly in Diamond Trucks to grow the business for the future.”

Iain Latimer, sales executive at Diamond Trucks added: “We are delighted that Setanta has expanded their investment in Renault Trucks and we are really looking forward to a fresh start, working with their team and with more of a local focus.”

Chevron continues to support the UK road transport industry

Chevron Lubricants continues to support the UK commercial vehicle sector with a number of sponsorship and partnership programmes in place for 2015.

This year marks the 30th Motor Transport Awards and will be the fifth year of involvement for the Chevron Lubricants team as category sponsors of the Fleet Truck of the Year Award.  The Motor Transport Awards celebrate innovation, outstanding service, efficiency and quality, all areas in which the company’s products, marketed under the Texaco brand, are focused.

The recent FTA Logistics Carbon Reduction Conference and LCRS Awards provided another opportunity for Chevron involvement.  The Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) is an industry-led initiative designed to record, report and reduce carbon emissions from freight transport.  Originally set up in 2009 and endorsed by the Department for Transport (DfT) in 2011, the scheme is managed by the FTA, but is open to all commercial vehicle operators to join.

Finally as a partner in the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (CSRF), Chevron has become further involved in exploring and understanding the challenges for the road transport industry.

Membership of CSRF allows Chevron to offer technical expertise by supporting a number of important research projects that are designed to deliver long term impact to the commercial transport industry.  The association also provides Chevron with greater insight into ongoing research and development work as well as customer expectations for the next generation of lubrication products and support services.

Speaking of the sponsorship initiatives, Chevron Lubricants commercial sector marketing manager Dave Spence said: “Our commitment to supporting important industry events and research initiatives is core to our desire to offer the very best products and services to the commercial vehicle sector.  Maintaining such close links within all aspects of the industry allows us to be on the forefront of customer demand and product innovation.”
