My favourite holiday destination is…
Dubai. I went there on my honeymoon, and my wife and I would go back at the drop of a hat. The sun, the food, the hotels and service are all second to none.
I drive …
An Audi Q5.
My hobby is…
Playing rugby. I’ve played since I was 12. I like to keep active so I go to the gym regularly too.
I got into the industry…
When I was doing temporary office work for an agency and applied for a trailer checking job with the now-defunct Transrent plc.
To encourage more young people into the industry we should…
Promote well-paid jobs with a chance of continued education. This is an industry that’s essential to our economy so we need to ensure young people see it as an attractive proposition when they are considering a career. There are many different aspects, from working as a mechanic to supplying parts or working in HR. We need to make young people aware of the opportunities - they may start at the bottom but then gain qualifications and work their way up to be in charge of teams, manage the workshop and could become company directors. New starters at every level learn by doing the job, so they need a mentor to keep an eye on what they’re doing and give praise and constructive criticism.
The outlook for our sector of the market over the next 12 months is…
That the world is not going to end with Brexit. As long as the press don’t talk the country into a recession, it should be business as usual.
