My favourite holiday destination is…
The Algarve in Portugal for the weather, fish and seafood, golf courses and friendly people.

I drive a…
Mercedes-Benz E Class. It has a spacious boot for my golf clubs and Marshall Fleet Solutions did me a great deal.

My hobbies are…
Cooking - I have been on a couple of courses. Travel is another hobby and my wife and I love to visit new places. I also like golf, although I don’t play as much as I would like.

I got into the industry…
Through a mutual network. I met the finance director of Marshall of Cambridge who introduced me to Marshall Group CEO Robert Marshall. My background is in finance but I have worked in operations in a number of industries over the years.

To encourage more young people into the industry we should…
Develop apprenticeships. We do need more young people - especially as engineers - and we are looking at what we could do to set up a suitable apprenticeship scheme, although government support appears to be lacking.

The outlook for 2017 is…
Uncertain. All businesses like stability and following the Brexit vote, we are in for a reasonable period of uncertainty in the economy. However, I am excited and confident about what innovations we will be able to bring to our customers. On a personal note, the plan is to spend less time in the office and more time in the field, especially talking to customers. I would also like to spend more time with the family; my second granddaughter Aila was born on Christmas Day.
