My favourite holiday destination is…

North Norfolk – it has long, sandy beaches, great food, is dog-friendly and has a relaxing pace of life.

I drive a…

Volvo V70.

My hobbies include…

Regular walks with our Doberman, Oscar, and cycling along the canal towpaths of our two local canals; the Nottingham and the Erewash. I am also a lifelong supporter of Notts County football club.

I got into the industry when…

I was looking for an opportunity to develop a career in sales but was too young to be a rep. A job I spotted gave me the chance to join Michelin in telesales at 20. From there I trained as a sales rep and was appointed to my first territory in September 1983.

To encourage young people into the industry we should…

Seek to offer a greater number of opportunities to join companies as modern apprentices, enabling young people to acquire and develop skills while earning a living.

The outlook for our sector over the next 12 months is…

Likely to remain highly competitive - for the truck tyre market and managed contract solutions - with an increasing emphasis on adding value through technology such as telematics and radio-frequency identification.
