Volvo has extended the number of battery-powered vehicles in its range to six, with the launch of a zero-tailpipe-emission low-entry truck.
The FM Low Entry, which is Volvo’s first-ever model developed only with an electric driveline, is aimed squarely at the waste management, distribution and construction sectors.
It features an FM cab, which has been lowered and moved forward. Entrance and exit are via a single step, and the cab has an entirely flat floor, aiding accessibility further. It has been awarded five stars in London’s Direct Vision Standard.
Available as a 4x2, 6x2, 6x4, 8x2 or 8x4, the 19- to 32-tonner can be specified with either a Sleeper cab, or an Extended/High sleeper, while wheelbases range from 3,900mm to 6,000mm.
It is fitted with four 360kWh batteries, powering a 330kWh motor, and has a claimed range of up to 125 miles.

FM Low Entry production commences in the second quarter, and sales will initially be limited to Europe, Turkey, Australia and South Korea.
