Manor Farm & Storage has taken delivery of two new stepframe smoothsider tipper trailers from Fruehauf.

Supplied by national technical sales manager, Karl Spooner, the 53 cu m capacity trailers join a mixed tipper fleet. The company’s first Fruehauf 68 cubic yard stepframe joined the fleet in 2014 and Manor Farm & Storage now has six Fruehauf trailers.

The Bedfordshire-based family run business was impressed with the size, shape and quality of Fruehauf’s trailers and chose to continue its long standing relationship with the manufacturer to supply its newest additions to the fleet.

Director Paul Reilly, said: “It’s one of the strongest trailers on the market; they do a brilliant job transporting grain and aggregates. The Fruehauf trailer sits lower, improving stability on the road and enhancing its tipping capabilities.”

The stepframes will be paired with Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units and put to work transporting grain from farms in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire to flour mills across the UK. The company also moves aggregates so the trailers will be used on some of these jobs too.

Reilly continued: “We do work them hard. The trailers are covering more than 120,000 km per year, so reliability and robustness is crucial. They are also easy to clean and maintain, and we know from experience that Fruehauf trailers are built to last a long time.”

As well as being impressed with the product, the team were pleased with the help and advice from Spooner. Reilly added: “Karl did everything he promised, ensuring all our trailer specifications were met and ensuring timely delivery of the trailers.”

Fruehauf’s stepframe smoothsider trailers are built in the UK at its 64-acre site in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Following Freuhauf’s acquisition by MV Commercial in 2021, its Grantham site has undergone significant investment to modernise the location with automated manufacturing processes and fabrication facilities.
