Anniversary DAF flagship for Anglesey operator

M Roberts & Son Transport is celebrating its tenth anniversary with the purchase of a new flagship DAF XF 530. The truck was supplied by Motus Commercials in Wrexham, but will be looked after by Motus Group member Holyhead Truck Services, located just 10 minutes away from the Roberts’ Gaerwen home base.

The Anglesey-based temperature controlled distribution specialist is a confirmed DAF operator. Company owner Matthew Roberts said “We’ve been in business since 2010 and we’ve always had DAF trucks. We find them extremely reliable, with the manual 2010 DAF XF 105 that I personally drive having done over 1 million kilometres whilst still being on its original clutch, for example.”

Roberts continues “We opted for a more powerful XF 530 this time around as we do refrigerated work and carry a lot of cheese, which is a heavy load. The internal extras from DAF were chosen with the driver in mind. They’re away in the cab all week so I think it’s important to make it as comfortable as possible for them, a home-from-home.

“The external lights and other features were chosen for shows. Our drivers really look after their trucks and like to show them off, so we wanted to make something special for this purpose too.” The extensive specification has been finished off with a striking paint job by Howard at Canacraft. It seems to be working, as it has already taken its first show class win.

He concludes, “I would absolutely recommend Motus Commercials for the purchase of new trucks, especially if you want something different. The truck sales team was so incredibly patient with me as I chopped and changed with my decisions to try and get this DAF perfect, and I am so grateful for their work.”
