Asset Alliance to supply 31 new trucks to pizza company Dominos

Pizza company Dominos has ordered 31 new trucks from three different marques.

The newcomers, which consist of with 15 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2532L 26-tonners, eight Scania P320 rigids and eight DAF XF 530 tractors units, are all being supplied by Asset Alliance Group on five-year full-service contract hire agreements.

The Mercedes rigids, which are based at depots in Warrington and Avonmouth, are being used for deliveries to Domino’s franchisees in the north west and south west of England. They have each been fitted with a Carrier Transicold Iceland engineless fridge, which runs electrically off a truck's PTO instead of using a separate diesel engine, so reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Commenting on the decision to opt for these fridge units, Leon Roche, Domino’s transport network optimisation manager, said “This is another step in Domino’s strategic plan to go carbon-free in the future. It’s an important part of our sustainability programme.”

The eight DAF XF 530 tractor units will be used to pull double-deck trailers from Warrington to the company’s logistics hub in Avonmouth. Meanwhile, the Scania P320s, which are estimated to arrive in January, will be based at Domino’s Milton Keynes HQ and will be used to deliver to London outlets.

Dominos, whose fleet of 100-plus trucks supply its 1,200 stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland, has worked with Asset Alliance Group for more than five years. Commenting on this established relationship, Roche said: “This deal again underlines Asset Alliance Group’s strength in supplying the right type of vehicles when we need them.
