Leicester-based Aylestone Transport gave its new Volvo FH 540 Globetrotter the full “Kelsification” treatment before putting it on the road.

Referring to the array of Kelsa accessories fitted, including the new Multibar XS, which is the first of its kind to be specifically designed for Lazer lights, Bodge Aylestone Ward, MD of Aylestone Transport, said: “We might have gone a bit crazy with this one, but I don’t regret it one bit. It’s a fantastic statement for our company after more than 100 years in business and the driver is absolutely thrilled with it. It’s a far cry from the horse and cart my grandfather began with in 1918!”

Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East, the 6x2 pusher axle tractor unit has also been kitted-out with custom chassis side-skirts and a full catwalk installed at SB Components. Meanwhile creature comforts inside the cab include television, microwave and fridge/freezer.

The new truck, which will be used for crane haulage five days a week, delivering concrete slabs and kerbs from Aggregate Industries’ base in Ashbourne into London. It is expected to remain on the all-Volvo fleet for at least eight years, during which time it will clock-up roughly 800,000km.
