Baldwins Support Services has taken delivery of five new Mercedes-Benz Arocs Grounder 6X4 tractor units, supplied by Northside Truck & Van Leeds.

Baldwins director Marcus Gough said: “These vehicles will be based at our new operating centre near Aylesbury and will complement our existing fleet of 8X4 SLTs.

"They will help to ensure continued high service levels for our sister company Baldwins Crane Hire's expanding customer base”.

Gough said that although it is too early to report on the vehicles’s performance: “They retain the same drivetrain as our existing 8x4 SLTs, so we know what to expect. The Voith turbo clutch is a real benefit and a bit of a game changer.

"The only other difference [compared with the SLTs] is one fewer axle, but this helps our operation as we can carry more payload within the vehicles special orders and reduce our carbon footprint  and costs over time.”

The trucks are on five-year R&M packages.
