Peterborough-based BRC Haulage has taken delivery of a new concrete mixer, courtesy of its local Scania dealership TruckEast. The FORS-compliant 8x4 P410 with Liebherr mixer will operate for Mick George Concrete.

The truck has a Scania 13-litre D13 engine producing up to 410hp and 2,150Nm, while on the back is a Liebher HTM805 concrete mixer with an 8cu m drum. The truck will be used to deliver concrete to residential, trade and construction projects in the east and East Midlands regions.

Mick George runs a fleet of more than 400 vehicles but is increasingly using a franchise model, whereby it provides financial and back-end support for independent operators, comprising owner-operators and established fleets, that carry out its aggregate delivery and muck-away services.

The company said that owner-operator franchisees have the potential to double their annual earnings compared with employed drivers and, in some cases, they get to keep the truck at the end of the agreement.
