Collier Haulage of Cowdenbeath has acquired its first body built by Thompsons Tippers Scotland - a high-specification aluminium Bulkmaster.

The new 24.4m3 body, built at the Thompsons factory in Dalmeny, near Edinburgh, is mounted on a Volvo FMX 8x4 chassis. It combines a standard bulker design with a heavy-duty 8mm hardened aluminium floor and a sliding front-to-back Harsh sheeting system.

The truck features a comprehensive tar specification that includes an air-operated split tailgate and full 1.7m-high insulated sides. The vehicle weighs 12,300kg and it can transport materials from crushed materials and aggregates to farm waste, solid fuels, bulk recycling products and hot tarmac.

Last July, Thompsons Group bought the Scottish branch of Weightlifter Group, Weightlifter Scotland, and has since invested in staff and new shop floor machine tools at the site at the Royal Elizabeth Yard in Dalmeny.

David Craig from Thompsons Scotland said: “This new body has been a great exercise for us in being able to fine-tune what has essentially been a traditional body type for many Scots hauliers into something that is even more versatile and productive.”
